Photography is, in particular, a mode of cultural expression. It allows to escape of conformism and brings me back to basics; a selfless and free satisfaction, with a contemplative view that gives meaning, a more complete, more convincing vision than reality itself. A binary evidence between realism and idealism, which gives it a real creative power in an artistic process. Having studied architecture, I perceive similarities between the Art of designing and the practice of photography. They are both a representation, only the dimension makes the difference.
I am willing to photograph everything, in a fun way, lived as a particular emotional experience rather intuitive.
President of a photo club, National chairman for the Photographic Federation of France. Last photographic exhibition in 2018 at the Museum of Arts in Constanta, Romania.
Distinctions:
EFIAP Excellence International Federation of Photographic Art
EFPF Excellence Photographic Federation of France
2017 Tokyo International Foto Awards: Honorable Mention
2018 Moscow International Foto Awards: bronze medal

My first encounter with photography took place when my parents performed some strange static dances with an object in front of their face. Later they would close themselves up in a special room under the house for long periods of time, and no one was allowed in. They diligently made sure that they were left to their own devices while inside. One day I was given permission to enter the room and allowed to stay, but on the condition that I didn’t move or went out. I remember there was a unique chemical perfume and a red light.
I was bewildered: my parents appeared flashing a white light on a piece of paper using a strange apparatus. Then they dipped it into a clear liquid and Behold! I couldn’t believe it, A miracle! They were wizards who created pictures.
In the following years I didn’t really follow his experiments, I was too young to manipulate cameras and I prefered to draw. Photography, Architecture and Art was always present around us and I still remember the black and white exhibitions that we visited.
When I was a teenager, I continued to draw and started to paint a little. I even took part in some local exhibitions. At the age of 17 I began to take some photographs, I was especially fascinated by mineralogical micro mounts. I started studying biochemistry, but after 3 years I changed to Poitiers school of fine-arts, and took an interest in computer graphics and generated imagery.
While I was there I meet Alain Fleig who introduced me to art photography. I also felt a need to practise photography, and with a friend we spent a lot of time learning how to develop films and photographs. We did sessions with models, scenery, and discovered France.
The second year I had my first personal exhibition in a gallery, which was a great experience, then a training placement with Philippe Salaün, who was at this time Robert Doisneau’s developer. Following this I did some jobs for organizations, shows and commissioned works. I then started in December 1995 working with computer graphics and made use of the Internet.
I worked in artistic direction for several years, then digital cameras came along and I found a way to work quickly and experiment without using too many resources such as film, chemicals, photo sensitive paper and of course the wonderful resource of water. I really came back to photography in 2005, testing landscape in infrared, that brings me into the world of long exposures.
Now I meet and exchange information with many photographers after the freedom Digital SLRs have given me to have exactly what I want with the different lenses and power features. I continue to produce some material and I’m involved and maintain collaborative projects such as Art Limited.

Definitions of sections
All submissions must conform to the following definitions to be accepted and validated by all International Organizations granting recognition or patronage.
1-DEFINITION OF MONOCHROME IMAGE (PSA)
An image is
considered to be Monochrome only if it gives the impression of having no color
(i.e. contains only shades of gray which can include pure black and pure white)
OR it gives the impression of being a greyscale image that has been toned in
one color across the entire image. (For example, by Sepia, red, gold, etc.)
A greyscale or
multi-colored image modified or giving the impression of having been modified
by partial toning, multi-toning or by the inclusion of spot coloring does not
meet the definition of monochrome and shall be classified as a Color Work.
2-DEFINITION OF MONOCHROME IMAGE (FIAP)
A black and
white work fitting from the very dark grey (black) to the very clear grey
(white) is a monochrome work with the various shades of grey.
A black and
white work toned entirely in a single color will remain a monochrome work able
to stand in the black and white category; such a work can be reproduced in
black and white in the catalogue of a salon under the FIAP Patronage.
On the other
hand, a black and white work modified by a partial toning or by the addition of
one color becomes a color work (polychrome) to stand in the color category;
such a work requires color reproduction in the catalogue of a salon under FIAP
patronage.
3-DEFINITION OF “Open” Color
All
techniques are allowed. Creativity is allowed in this category.
4-PERSPECTIVES
Creating the illusion of a three-dimensional world with two-dimensional photos is no small challenge. You can use vanishing lines, high- or low-angle shots, scale variations as well as any natural or artificial means based on line geometry to give your images a sense of depth, dimension, and graphic impact.
5-WATER
Water should be the subject or one of the main subjects of the image. Flowing, stagnant, unfurling water! The photographs can be taken in a natural environment that is either rural or urban. They could represent obvious spaces, such as the seaside, a river, a lake or a pond, or more unexpected scenes, such as a simple pool or even an aquarium. Water should be shown in its liquid form (no snow, no steam, no ice).
6-FESTIVE ATMOSPHERE
The image illustrates a ritual, a party, a celebration, a sports, cultural or social event and is dominated by jubilation or joy. It captures the excitement of a moment, the joyful dynamics of a group, the positive energy created and carried by a group. The image highlights an atmosphere, gaiety and cohesion shared by a community of individuals at a given moment. The presence of these individuals may be explicit or simply suggested. Images representing political events are not accepted.
Conditions related to PSA and FIAP patronage
The
aforementioned conditions and the following conditions (PSA and FIAP) are to be
respected to claim to participate in the 13st Salon Daguerre.
PSA RULES
Entries are
limited to not more than 4 images per section.
An entrant’s
images will not be presented to the judges consecutively. An entrant’s four
images will be distributed throughout four rounds of judging in each section.
Distribution of images shall be in the same round order as submitted by the
entrant.
If at any
time, it is determined in the reasonable discretion of the exhibition organizer
or the judges before, during, or after the judging of an exhibition that an
entrant has submitted entries where one or more images may fail to comply with
these Conditions of Entry, including the stated definitions, the exhibition
organizers reserve the right to delete the entry from the exhibition and void
any or all acceptances or awards in connection with the exhibition.
Fees may be
forfeited or refunded in these circumstances. The entrant acknowledges that the
decision of the exhibition organizers or the judges are final.
In order to
ensure that images comply with the Conditions of Entry and definitions, the
exhibition organizers may carry out reasonable measures to verify that:
a) the images are the original work of the entrant and b) the images comply with the rules and definitions as set out in these Conditions of Entry. These steps include, but are not limited to, questioning any entrant, requiring the submission of RAW files or other digital files representing the original capture of the submitted image(s), confronting the entrant with evidence that one or more submitted images fails to comply with the Conditions of Entry (also known as Entry Rules), and offering the entrant a reasonable opportunity to provide counter evidence to refute the exhibition organizer’s evidence by a set deadline. Such entries that are not cleared or are still questionable after the entrant has presented evidence may be considered in breach of these Conditions of Entry, and declined. Such entries may be referred to PSA for further investigation of possible ethics violations. PSA retains the right to investigate in any way all complaints/suspicions of breaches of entry conditions, impose sanctions if deemed necessary, void the acceptances of any image found to violate the PSA rules, include the entrant’s name on the list of sanctions provided to Exhibitions, and share such investigations with FIAP.
Drone Policy:
The Board approved a new policy on the use of drones and it is available here.
The policy has a legal section which basically requires members to follow whatever laws exist in the country in which they are using a drone.
There is also an ethical component
to the policy and it states : One of the tenets of photography, is that the
safety and well-being of the subject, photographer and surroundings is of
paramount importance over the capturing of the photograph.
The purpose of this section is to
prevent any interference with other individuals or animals which will or may
cause a disturbance in their normal activity or disrupt the way an individual
or animal interacts with its environment.
1. May not fly a drone above people for the purpose of photographing their activity, unless permission is granted in writing 2. May not fly or photograph animals in their natural habitat, especially nesting areas and locations where the animal is already under stress (winter survival, migratory feeding, protecting young). Photographing scenery/landscapes is permissible. 3. May not fly or photograph in any designated wilderness area.
Entrants
automatically agree to these terms by the act of entering the Exhibition and
agree to cooperate with any investigation.
FIAP RULES
Participation

competition is under the patronage of the FIAP, the participants, by the sole
fact of submitting their photographs or files, accept without exception and
without objection the following conditions:
that the images presented can be examined by FIAP to
determine if they comply with the FIAP rules and definitions, even if the
participant is not a member of FIAP,
that FIAP will use all the means at its disposal for
this purpose,
that any refusal to cooperate with the FIAP or any
refusal to submit the original files as captured by the camera, or the fact of
not providing sufficient evidence, will be sanctioned by FIAP,
that in the event of sanctions pronounced following
breaches of the FIAP rules, the name of the participant concerned will be
published in any useful form in order to inform the organizers of these
breaches.
In addition,
it is recommended to leave the EXIF data intact in the submitted files to
facilitate any investigation.
Files will be
kept for control purposes for a period not exceeding 12 months or the end of
the next year of the same event, whichever is later.
