ABOUT US

The Salon Daguerre was created in the year 2000 by the Paris Val-de-Bièvre Photo Club. Initially held every two years, it became an annual event in 2015, which is why the 2026 edition will be the 19th. Originally a print exhibition, it went digital in 2015. From the outset, its founders wanted to create a high-quality, rigorous and prestigious exhibition. First of all, unlike many other international exhibitions, the judging is done in person. The jury is composed of three international judges, who meet for three days at our premises in Paris. This provides an opportunity for judges to engage in lively discussions about the images submitted in a friendly, convivial atmosphere. In addition, we try to offer three creative and original themes alongside the traditional monochrome and color categories.

Created in 1949/1950, our club now has more than 300 members. Our main branch in Paris 14th offers 50 to 60 activities every month (technical and practical workshops, analysis of individual photos as well as portfolios, group photography outings, studio shoots, a film lab, etc.). Activities are also held at our second location in Bièvres, in the Essonne region just outside of Paris. Partnerships have also been established with various organizations including the Paris Amateur Theater Festival, the Darius Milhaud Conservatory of the Arts in Paris 14th, the Polynotes music school, and more. Every two years, it also organizes a Photography Month in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, in conjunction with the local municipal authorities.

The Photo Club also organizes more than twenty exhibitions in its own gallery and outside its walls, as well as three or four exhibitions in Bièvres.
